Cookies

We use cookies on this website. A cookie is a text file sent by a web server to a web browser, and stored by the browser. The text file is then sent back to the server each time the browser requests a page from the server. This enables the web server to identify and track the web browser.

We may send a cookie which may be stored by your browser on your computer’s hard drive. We may use that information to recognise your computer when you visit our website, and to personalise our website for you. We may also use the information we obtain from the cookie in the administration of this website, to improve the website’s usability and for marketing purposes.

Most browsers allow you to refuse to accept cookies. This will, however, have a negative impact upon the usability of many websites, including this one.

We use an analytics programme to monitor use of this website. This programme generates statistical and other information about website use by means of cookies, which are stored on users’ computers. The information generated relating to our website is used to create reports about the use of the website.

What cookies does this site use?

First Party Cookies

The following cookies are added by the web site itself and have the following purposes.

The website is built using the PHP language and this generates cookies which are strictly necessary for the performance of the site.

PHPSESSID is a general-purpose identifier used to maintain user session variables. It is normally a random generated number, how it is used can be specific to the site, but a good example is maintaining a logged-in status for a user between pages.

Cookies named PHPSESSID only contain a reference to a session stored on the web server. No information is stored in the user’s browser and this cookie can only be used by the current web site.

Third Party Cookies

The following cookies are added by a third party and have the following purposes.

Google Universal Analytics uses cookies called _gid and _ga. These cookies are used to distinguish unique users by assigning a randomly generated number as a client identifier. It is included in each page request in a site and used to calculate visitor, session and campaign data for the sites analytics reports. By default, they are set to expire after 2 years, although this is customisable by website owners.

Hubspot uses cookies called __hstc __hssrc, __hssc and hubspotutk. These cookies serve the following purposes.

_hstc is the main cookie for tracking visitors. It contains the domain, utk (see below), initial timestamp (first visit), last timestamp (last visit), current timestamp (this visit), and session number (increments for each subsequent session). By default, this cookie expires after 2 years.

Hubspotutk is used for to keep track of a visitor’s identity. This cookie is passed to HubSpot on form submission and used when de-duplicating contacts. By default, this cookie expires after 10 years.

_hssc keeps track of sessions. This is used to determine if the session number and timestamps should be incremented in the __hstc cookie. It contains the domain, viewCount (increments each pageView in a session), and session start timestamp.

__hssrc is set whenever HubSpot changes the session cookie. It is set to 1 and is sued to determine if the user has restarted their browser. If this cookie does not exist when cookies are managed a new session is assumed to have started. By default, this cookie has no expiry date.
